އެއަރ މޯލްޑިވްސްގެ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ވައިގެ ދަތުރުތައް ފެށުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ އަލްއުސްތާޛު މައުމޫން ޢަބްދުލްޤައްޔޫމް ދެއްކެވި ވާހަކަފުޅު

الحَمْـدُ لِلّـهِ رَبِّ العَـالَمِـين، وَالصّـلاة وَالسّلام علـى أشرف المرسلين. سيِّدنا محـمَّدٍ وَعلـى آلـه وَصَحْبِـهِ أجمـعـين

އާދެ، މި އަހަރުގެ ޖުމްހޫރީ ދުވަހުގެ މުނާސަބަތުގައި އެންމެ ފުރަތަމަ ކުރެވޭ ކަމަކަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައި މިއޮތީ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ޤައުމީ އެއަރލައިން ކަމުގައިވާ، އެއަރ މޯލްޑިވްސްގެ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ދަތުރުފަތުރު ފެށުން.

ޝައްކެއްނެތް، މިއީ، ރާއްޖޭގެ ތަރައްޤީއަށް ވިސްނާއިރު، ވަރަށް މުހިންމު ކަމަކަށް ވެގެންދާނެ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ރާއްޖެއަކީ ޓޫރިޒަމާއި އަދި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުގެ ޤައުމުތަކާ ދެމެދުގައި އޮންނަ، ވިޔަފާރިއާއި އެނޫންވެސް ގުޅުންތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ކުރިއެރުމާއި ތަރައްޤީ ބިނާވެފައިވާ ޤައުމެއް. އެހެންކަމުން، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ އަމިއްލަ އެއަރލައިނެއްގެ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ދަތުރުތައް ފެށުމަކީ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ އިޖްތިމާޢީ އަދި އިޤްތިޞާދީ ތަރައްޤީގައި ވަރަށް މުހިންމު ޙިއްޞާއެއް އަދާކުރާނެ ކަމެއް. އާދެ، މިކަން މި ފެށެނީ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ އުފާވެރި ޖުމްހޫރީ ދުވަހުގެ މުނާސަބަތުގައި. އެހެންކަމުން، މިއަދު ތިޔަ އެންމެ ބޭފުޅުންނަށް މި ދެ މުނާސަބަތާ ބެހޭގޮތުން އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ހިތުގައި އުފެދިފައިވާ އިޚްލާޞްތެރި ތަހުނިޔާއާއި މުބާރަކްބާދީގެ ޝުޢޫރުތައް ރައްދުކުރަން. ހަމައެހެންމެ، ލޮބުވެތި ދިވެހި ރައްޔިތުންނަށް ޖުމްހޫރީ ދުވަހުގެ މުނާސަބަތުގައި ވަރަށް އިޚްލާޞްތެރި ހިތަކާއެކު، ދުވަހުގެ ހެޔޮއެދުންތައް އަޅުގަނޑު ފޮނުވަން.

އާދެ، އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ދުޢާއަކީ اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މިއަދު މި ފަށާ މުހިންމު މަސައްކަތުގައި އެކަލާނގެ ތައުފީޤު އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ދެއްވުން. މިކަމަކީ ހުރިހާގޮތަކުންވެސް ރާއްޖެއަށް ފައިދާހުރި ކަމެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ހިމެނިގެންދިޔުން.

އާދެ، ތިޔަބޭފުޅުންނަށްވެސް އެނގިވަޑައިގަންނަވާނެ ފަދައިން، މިއަދު މި މުހިންމު މަސައްކަތުގައި އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނާ ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގަންނަވާ މެލޭޝިޔާގެ ކުންފުނީގެ ބޭފުޅުން ވަޑައިގެން އެބަ ތިއްބެވި. އަދި އެހެންވެސް ބޭރުގެ ޢިއްޒަތްތެރިން ވަޑައިގެން އެބަ ތިއްބެވި. އެހެންކަމުން، އަޅުގަނޑުވެސް މިނިސްޓަރ އޮފް ޓްރާންސްޕޯޓް އެންޑް ކޮމިއުނިކޭޝަންސް ފަދައިން، އިނގިރޭސިބަހުން ދެތިން ޖުމްލައެއް ދަންނަވާލަން އެބަޖެހޭ. އެކަމުގެ ހުއްދަ ތިޔަބޭފުޅުން އަޅުގަނޑަށް ދެއްވުން އެދެން.

Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and gentlemen.

Today we are making a historic beginning. It is auspicious that we begin the celebration of our Republic Day, by inaugurating the international wing of our National Airline Air Maldives.

The establishment of a National Airline and in particular, the beginning of its services to destinations abroad is indeed an important milestone in the social and economic life of any country. Specially a country like The Maldives, who’s economy is sustained in large part by tourism.

Indeed, air transport and communications open up greater opportunities for social development and economic progress.

It is with this fact in mind, that the Government of The Maldives has been working towards the creation of a National Airline and its overseas operations.

As inaugural flight of Air Maldives takes off today, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to our partners, in this joint venture, Malaysian Helicopter Services and to the management and staff of Air Maldives, as well as the Minister of Transport and Communications Mr. Ahmed Zahir, and to the officials of the Department of Civil Aviation, for the commitment and devotion, with which they had worked throughout the long process of forming the new phase of Air Maldives.

The cooperation and understanding, with which Malaysian Helicopter Services have approached this joint venture has been instrumental in the birth of this new phase of our National Airline.

I would like to thank Malaysian Helicopter Services, for their cooperation and collaboration.

And I wish to say “!ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް ޝުކުރިއްޔާ” to Chairman Malaysian Helicopter Services.

The fact that this joint venture is created in partnership with a Malaysian firm is most satisfying. In view of the close brothering relations, which happily exists between the Maldives and Malaysia.

Malaysia and The Maldives have much in common, as members of the Islamic Conference, The non-aligned movement, The Commonwealth and other international bodies.

We share the same aspirations and goals for our people. As well as the same convictions in regional and international affairs.

I am happy to say, that Malaysia was one of the first countries to which I have made an official visit, since I assumed office as President of the Maldives 16 years ago.

Similarly, I have had the honor of hosting Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, as the first Head of Government, who has visited The Maldives during my presidency.

I hope that this new partnership between the Maldives and Malaysia will pave the way for further cooperation between our two countries in all other fields.

Honorable Ministers, Honorable Minister of Transport and Communications, Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.

With these words and in the name of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala (SWT), and with his blessings, I take great pleasure in inaugurating the regional and international services of our National Airline Air Maldives, who’s operations would hopefully lead to further strengthening of our relations with the outside world.
