Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mr Xiaoyu Zhao has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.

The President and Mr Zhao discussed the current economic and social situation of the country. They further deliberated on the potential developmental projects that could be undertaken with ADB’s assistance, especially in the areas of fisheries and tourism sectors.

Mr Zhao said he was pleased with the government’s efforts to develop the country’s economy despite the political challenges. He also reassured President Waheed of ADB’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives. He further thanked government of Maldives for the support and confidence placed in ADB.

President Waheed expressed his gratitude for the contributions made, and the support and cooperation received, from ADB towards the development of the Maldives.
