The Honourable Panapasi Nelesone, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Tuvalu, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today, on the sidelines of the SIDS Global Business Network Forum 2026 and Island Investment Forum being held in the Maldives.

The meeting focused on the economic and environmental vulnerabilities faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with discussions on climate finance, sustainable investment and the need for international financing mechanisms that better reflect the realities of SIDS. President Dr Muizzu welcomed closer engagement between the Maldives and Tuvalu and emphasised the importance of solidarity among SIDS in addressing shared challenges.

The SIDS Global Business Network Forum 2026 and Island Investment Forum, being held from 23–25 August, brings together representatives from the public, private and development sectors to explore new partnerships and investment opportunities that can support sustainable and resilient development across SIDS.
