President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mr Andrew Cox and briefed him on the current situation.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President stated that his key priorities included the restoration of public confidence in democratic institutions by upholding the rule of law and uncompromising adherence to the Constitution.

While appreciating the UNDP’s close engagement with the Government, the President also expressed hope that the UNDP will assist the judiciary reform process in order to ensure that the judiciary is fully independent and is protected from all outside interference.
