President Mohamed Nasheed met with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today, during a working lunch held at Delhi’s Taj Mahal Hotel, where the President was staying in his visit to New Delhi.
During the meeting, President Nasheed spoke on the investment opportunities in the Maldives and the need to expand the India-Maldives relations to an economic partnership. He stressed that there was great scope for business in the Maldives.
Representatives from various areas such as healthcare, education, energy infrastructure, and information technology, represented in CII, were present at today’s lunch. Indian High Commissioner in the Maldives D. M. Mulay also participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, participants from CII expressed their interest in investing in the Maldives.
They also briefed on the follow ups of the CII’s visit to the Maldives in February. During the visit a number of Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the government of Maldives and CII.
