The Special Envoy to the President, H. E. Mr. Ibrahim Hussain Zaki launched the official website of the 17th SAARC Summit during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Speaking at the ceremony Mr. Zaki said that SAARC Summit had been held in the Maldives before but that this was the first time a website had been made specifically for the Summit by the Maldives. He also said that a website was an important tool for a Summit provides an avenue for free flow of information from the organizers to the delegates in a transparent manner.
 
Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Mr. Ahmed Naseem also spoke at the ceremony. Foreign Minister Naseem thanked Mr. Zaki for accepting his invitation to launch the website. He also highlighted the visits by Mr. Zaki to the deliver President Mohamed Nasheed’s official invitation to the Heads of States to attend the upcoming Summit.
 
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Mohamed Naseer gave a brief introduction of the website at the ceremony, which was attended by senior officials and staff of the Ministry and also officials from the President’s Office.
The official website of the 17th SAARC Summit gives in-depth information about the Summit in Addu City and the Maldives. The website also provides with useful information and interactive services for the delegates and media personnel who will cover the Summit.
