President Mohamed Nasheed has sent a message of sympathy to His Excellency President Hu Jintao of the People’s Republic of China following the collision of two trains in Zhejiang province.
President Nasheed's message to President Jintao reads as follows:

It was with deep shock and grief that I learned about the collision of two trains in Zhejiang province which claimed the lives of many people and caused injury to many more.
At this most difficult hour, the Government and people of Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of China.
