A conference on “Maldives: Towards a Future without Drugs” will begin on Saturday.
The conference will be held from 15 – 17 August. President Mohamed Nasheed will inaugurate the conference which will be held in Aarah. Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed is also scheduled to speak at the inauguration ceremony.
The participants of the conference will include youths, recovering addicts, members of NGOs set up to create awareness on drug addiction, law enforcement authorities, members of the People’s Majlis, developmental partners and concerned government officials.
Tackling the drug menace is one of the key pledges of the government.
