President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that work is underway to establish a state-of-the-art engineering laboratory in the Maldives. He made the remarks in a special video message delivered today to commemorate National Engineers’ Day.
In his message, the President highlighted that the laboratory is being designed to provide services across a wide range of engineering disciplines under one roof, including civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, aircraft and aeronautical engineering, as well as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital engineering.
He noted that the Government is currently undertaking the technical preparations and logistical arrangements required for the construction of the facility. He also emphasised that the construction and operation of the laboratory will be funded entirely outside the State budget.
The President added that the Government intends to equip the laboratory to the required standards to facilitate a wide range of engineering analyses and testing. The facility will serve students from across the Maldives, as well as international parties seeking access to such testing capabilities.
