President Dr Mohamed Muizzu underscored that Maldives 2.0 is a meaningful development framework that will bring a revolutionary change to the country’s governance system.

He made these remarks during a consultative meeting held this evening with residents of Hulhumalé Phase I at the Rehendhi School Hall. The meeting formed part of a series of public engagements initiated by the President to engage directly with citizens, hear their views and concerns, and identify practical solutions.

In his remarks, the President highlighted that a National Development Plan is currently being drafted, along with proposed legislation to grant the Plan additional legal authority. He also outlined the Government’s 20-year plan aimed at achieving sustained GDP growth and advancing national development targets by 2040.

Addressing the economic situation, the President pointed out that the Government is taking decisive measures to prevent fiscal default. He emphasised that these efforts include meeting both foreign and domestic debt obligations without resorting to printing money. He further noted that the Government has initiated housing projects at a pace faster than previous administrations, with agreements already in place for projects across several islands. He added that preparations are underway for projects in the Malé region to commence by the end of this month.

During the meeting, the President listened to concerns raised by residents of Hulhumalé Phase I and assured them that the Government would take the necessary steps to address the issues raised by the people.
