President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the ADh. Maamigili Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at the Maamigilili Social Centre.
During the meeting, council members raised the most pressing needs of the island’s residents. They highlighted challenges caused by delays in road development, the need for effective waste management, and difficulties in utilising the island’s harbour.
Additionally, the members requested for establishment of passport and ID card services on the island. They also urged the installation of fish aggregation devices (FAD) to support sports fishing for the youth. Further concerns included the need for additional staff at the health centre, as well as more facilities and office space for the school.
President Dr Muizzu assured participants that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns. He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who also provided updates on ongoing development projects.
