President Dr Mohamed Muizzu called upon students to confront their challenges with steadfast resolve and courage. He made the appeal while delivering his remarks at the awarding ceremony of the President’s Scholarship & High Achievers' Scholarship held at Huravee School tonight.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President encouraged students to prioritise serving their nation. He implored students to be bound by Islamic faith and to return to their roots, the parents and guardians, to whom they owe their academic success, for their countless struggles throughout their academic life.
The President announced that the Administration would prioritise increasing employment categories reserved for locals, along with a fair remuneration to accompany it. The President added that the priority given in the state budget to national progress would also extend to human resource development. Emphasising that numerous educated locals are opting for employment opportunities abroad due to inadequate compensation within the country, the President announced the Administration’s plans to earmark MVR200 million from next year onwards to enhance the remuneration packages of such individuals who demonstrate academic excellence.
Among the recipients of the President’s Scholarship & High Achievers' Scholarship awarded letters tonight, 136 students achieved academic excellence in five subjects in their higher secondary examinations. Nineteen students were awarded the President’s Scholarship tonight, while an additional 117 students were awarded the High Achievers’ Scholarship for achieving an “A” or higher grade in their higher secondary examinations.
