President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has attended the first match played by the Maldives National Football Team in the SAFF Championship 2021. The Maldives team faced off against Nepal at the National Stadium tonight.
This was the second match in the championship which would go on from 1 -16 of October 2021. Nepal won the match with a score of 1 - 0.
The President was accompanied at the stadium by Vice President Faisal Naseem, former President Uz. Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, other senior government officials and Maldivian supporters.
The Maldives had previously won the SAFF Championship cup twice, once in 2008 and once in 2018.
