Vice President Faisal Naseem has today inaugurated dialysis services at the Gnaviyani Atoll Hospital in Fuvahmulah City. The Vice President visited Fuvahmulah today as part of his ongoing visit to the two southernmost atolls.
Speaking after inaugurating the Dialysis Unit at the hospital, the Vice President emphasised the priority accorded by the Administration to improving health care services across the country, and affirmed its commitment to fulfilling the urgent and pressing health care needs of the people.
The Vice President further highlighted that a large sum in the State Budget is allocated for development of health services. In this regard, he noted the importance of investing more on programmes to address the issue and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases. He further urged the hospital staff to be compassionate caregivers.
Following the inauguration, the Vice President toured the new facility and inquired about its services. The new Dialysis Unit has the capacity to treat three patients at a time, while the hospital serves an average of 150-200 patients every day.
In Fuvahmulah, the Vice President also visited the Drug Treatment and Detoxification Centre and inspected the road development work in the city.
