President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the members of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll Hulhudhuffaaru Island Council this afternoon at The President’s Office and discussed the priorities and concerns raised by the island’s residents, as well as various development projects the council members have proposed for the benefit of their constituents.

During the meeting, council members shed light on issues faced by the island’s community due to soil erosion, lack of proper waste management and lack of proper boat parking space in the land. Further, they raised social issues faced due to the lack of youth centre on the Island and due to lack of police services in the Island. Also, they noted that the community needs the support of the government to develop local tourism and enhance the guesthouse business in the Island. Moreover, the councillors also shed light on the need to expand the number of classrooms in the school and also upgrade the health centre facility.

The President further expressed that the government would take necessary action after discussing with the line ministries and address the specific issues and concerns raised by members of the Hulhudhuffaaru Island Council.
