The Non-Resident Ambassador of Sweden, His Excellency Mr. Klas Molin, presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.
At the ceremony, the President welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term as the Ambassador of Sweden to the Maldives.
During the call, the President expressed hope that the existing ties between the Maldives and Sweden will be enhanced during the tenure of the new Ambassador. Discussing further areas of mutually beneficial collaboration, President Yameen welcomed the Ambassador’s interest to bring Swedish investments to the Maldives, especially in the tourism sector.
The Ambassador of Sweden expressed gratitude for receiving him as the new Non-Resident Ambassador of the nation to the Maldives. He emphasized closer cooperation in eco-tourism and more broadly in the commercial sector. The Ambassador also congratulated the President on the leadership the Maldives has been showing as an advocate for Small Island States.
The President was accompanied at the call by the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office H.E. Mohamed Naseer and Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ahmed Sareer.
