Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has met with His Excellency Geoff Q.M Doidge, the South African High Commissioner accredited to the Maldives. The meeting was held on Monday morning at the President’s Office.

During the meeting, Vice President Jameel and High Commissioner Doidge discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the Maldives and South Africa, particularly in areas of trade and tourism. The Vice President also stated that the Maldives is keen to learn from the South African model of governance, which is grounded in the ideals of reconciliation.

The South African High Commissioner commended the Government on its dynamic development agenda, and stated that South Africa is committed to supporting the Maldives in its national progress. In this regard, High Commissioner Doidge highlighted the tremendous investment opportunities for South Africans in the Maldives.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Abdulla Ameen, Minister at the President’s Office, and Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
