President Waheed meets with Senior Government Officials and Business Community of Kuwait

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has met with some senior officials of the Kuwaiti Government, and members of the business community in Kuwait yesterday.

The President had separate meetings with the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Education, the Chairman of Chamber Commerce, the Deputy Director General of the Kuwait Fund, and the Executive Director of Alternative Investments at the Public Authority for Investments. The meetings were held at the Bayan Palace, where the President is residing.

At the President’s meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Minister thanked President Waheed for the Maldives’ continuous support extended to Kuwait in the international arena. The President assured the Minister of Maldives’s friendly cooperation in the future as well.

At the meeting with the Minister of Education Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf, the Minister informed the President of Kuwait’s keen interest in offering scholarships to Maldivian students.

The Deputy Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Develop¬ment Hisham Ibrahim Al-Waqy¬an, at his meeting with the President, assured that the Kuwait Fund would continue to play a vital role in the infrastructure development in the Maldives.

Meeting the business community of Kuwait, President Waheed briefed members on the investment opportunities in the Maldives.

The Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hosted a cultural show in honour of President Waheed yesterday, where several hundred school children performed. The President and the Maldivian delegation also attended a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah of Kuwait yesterday.
