President Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh of India, on hearing about the news of passing away of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral.

I was deeply grieved to learn of the death of Former Indian Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr Inder Kumar Gujral. He will no doubt be remembered as a leading politician, who rendered distinguished services to the country in various capacities with dedication and patriotism, throughout an illustrious political career spanning over many decades.
As the Government and the people of India mourn this great national grief, the government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr Inder Kumar Gujral, as well as our sincere condolences to the people and the Government of India.
