President Dr Mohamed Waheed has appealed for support from everyone, in protecting our environment; as the environment is interrelated with our livelihood, our economy, and our sole existence.
The President made this appeal while speaking at the official launching of the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund.
In his speech, the President expressed his hopes for private individuals and NGO’s to initiate such projects in other parts of the country, in collaboration with the related government and foreign institutions. He also assured that the government would provide any support and assistance required in carrying out such projects.
President Waheed noted that the environmental preservation and protection projects were not only beneficial to today’s population, but that the benefits would continue for future generations as well.
