His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced a contribution of MVR 1 million to the Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, supporting ongoing relief, recovery and humanitarian efforts following the devastating floods and landslides that struck Nepal on 26 August 2026.
The contribution reflects the Maldives’ commitment to regional solidarity and its longstanding belief that nations must stand together with compassion and mutual support in times of crisis.
President Dr Muizzu conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of Nepal over the loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the disaster, reaffirming the Maldives’ solidarity with the Nepalese people during this difficult time.
The Maldives and Nepal, both South Asian nations, have maintained warm and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1980. The Maldives remains committed to strengthening these longstanding relations and extending support to countries in the region in times of need.
