President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, following the loss of life caused by the passenger plane crash in the city of Lagos.
The President’s message to the Nigerian President reads as follows.

I was deeply shocked and grieved to learn about the passenger plane crash in the city of Lagos which killed more than 150 people and injured hundreds more.
At this most difficult hour of national grief, the Government and citizens of Maldives join me in extending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Nigeria.
Please convey our heartfelt commiseration to the members of the bereaved families.
