President Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has invited President Dr Mohamed Waheed to the 16th Non Aligned Movement Summit, to be held in Tehran from 30 to 31 of August 2012.
The letter of invitation was presented to President Waheed by a Special Envoy from the Iranian President, Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and Pacific, Dr Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, discussions were held on ways to further extend the long existing bilateral relations between the Maldives and Iran. Talks were mainly focused on investment opportunities in the Maldives, and higher education opportunities for Maldivian students in Iran.
