President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with the Maldivian national football squad taking part in the AFC Challenge Cup 2012.
The AFC Challenge Cup is an international football competition for emerging nations that are members of the Asian Football Confederation. The 2012 AFC Challenge Cup will take place in Nepal from 8-19 March.
Speaking to the players and team officials, President Waheed said that the government plans to reinstate the allowance to team players.
Noting the enthusiastic support of all Maldivians for football and the national team, President Waheed encouraged the team to excel in the sport make all Maldivians proud.
