President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan has appointed Attorney General and some Ministers to his Cabinet. The appointment ceremony was held Sunday morning at the President’s Office.
The Attorney General and the Ministers took their oath of Office before the Supreme Court Judge Court Judge Abdulla Areef.
The newly appointed Ministers are:
1. Attorney General Uza. Aishath Azima Shakooru
2. Minister of Health and Family Dr Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed
3. Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed
4. Minister of Economic Development Mr Ahmed Mohamed
5. Minister of Transport and Communication Dr Ahmed Shamheed
6. Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports Mr Mohamed Hussain Shareef
7. Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mr Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Ghafoor
Speaking after the presentation of the Letter of Appointment, President Waheed expressed his full confidence in the newly appointment members of the Cabinet.
He said today’s appointment was part of his effort to form a national unity government. He also thanked the leaders of political parties for their support and cooperation in this endeavour.
The President also said his administration’s priorities would be to maintain peace and order in the country; bring socio-economic progress to the country; bring political stability; and to bring prosperity to the country.
