President Mohamed Nasheed has today officially opened Reveries Diving Village, a tourist guest house in Laamu Gan.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Nasheed said that this hotel was part of the expansion of the industry to inhabited islands, and highlighted the benefits of such an expansion- specifically, the higher availability of job opportunities.
Noting the pressing need for the introduction of tourism industry in the islands, the President said that the most valuable of all resources available in the Maldives is its natural beauty. He also spoke of the government’s aim to utilise these natural resources, and deliver the wealth of the country for the common good of the people.
The President further noted that with the introduction of such industries in the islands, the priority to be given to the islands by the government increases several-fold. He also said that the government is obliged to provide better water and sewerage services, as well as high-quality road systems for the people.
