Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed has this morning met with some senior members of the Friendship Association of India-Maldives.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, a senior member of the association, noted the importance of strengthening the relations between the people of India and the Maldives, to maintain the long established bilateral relations. He also conveyed his confidence that if strong ties were maintained between the two countries, FAIM would be beneficial to both India and the Maldives.
The Vice President briefed the FAIM team on the areas of development, for which aid from FAIM was much needed, in the country. He also spoke on the close friendship the two countries share, noting that one community should be welcoming of the other as part of their society.
