President Mohamed Nasheed has called for nonpartisan unity in the work towards the development of the island, for the success of the atoll, and for the future of the country.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Electrician Course conducted by Maldives Polytechnic, under “Hunaru” programme in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, the President said that the government targets at ensuring for Maldivians, the job opportunities in the labour market, instead of expatriate workers.
Noting that “Hunaru” programme will be conducted in all the regions of the country, President Nasheed said that 8500 youth will be trained in 60 fields under the programme.
In his speech, the President also revealed the government’s plans to develope Kulhudhuffushi to a city in the future, and highlighted on the developmental projects being carried out in the island.
At the ceremony, President Nasheed briefed on the establishment of a Maritime School in the island, in the near future.
