A symbolic tree planting ceremony was held today at Sultan Park in Malé, as part of the ongoing state visit to the Maldives by His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India.
His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu participated in the event alongside Prime Minister Modi, reflecting the close partnership between the two nations.
President Dr Muizzu planted a sea putat tree (Kim’bi) under India’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, while Prime Minister Modi planted a mango tree (An’bu) under the Maldives’ ‘Five Million Trees Planting Programme.’ The gesture symbolised friendship and highlighted shared environmental responsibility.
