President Mohamed Nasheed has this morning laid the foundation for the new government mosque in Hoarafushi of Haa Alif Atoll.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, for their support and guidance provided to the government.
President Nasheed also visited the construction site of 12 new classrooms at Haa Alif Atoll Education Centre. President Nasheed met with the staff of the Education Centre during his visit, and enquired on the administration of the school.
As part of his tour of Haa Alif Atoll, President Mohamed Nasheed inaugurated a telemedicine unit at the Health Centre of Haa Alifu Hoarafushi. Speaking at the ceremony, the President noted that the establishment of telemedicine units in 35 islands, with the aid of Abu Dhabi Funds, shows the importance given by the government to adapt to the latest technology.
Highlighting on the government’s health insurance scheme “Madhana”, the President said that the government has submitted a universal health coverage bill, which would ensure health insurance to all citizens, and that the bill was currently at the voting stage in the parliament.
