President Mohamed Nasheed has today launched an outlet of the International Fast-Food Chain “Marrybrown” in Male’. The restaurant was established by one of the leading business ventures in the Maldives, Lily International Private Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President expressed his gratitude to Lily International Private Limited, for their continuous contribution to the development of the business industry in the Maldives. He also noted that the company’s contribution has brought much growth to the Maldivian tourism industry since the mid-1980s.
In his speech, President Nasheed highlighted on the changing lifestyle of Maldivians, noting that businesses like Marrybrown are part of the change needed in the Maldives today.
The President also conveyed his hopes for more such service enterprises to be established in the country. He said that the economic policy of the country is to create an environment where all businesses compete in an open market. He also informed that the necessary legal amendments were being brought about to create such a business environment, specifically the state income laws and tax laws.
