President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on all presidential pledges made to the people of Goidhoo.

Addressing residents during his ongoing tour of inhabited islands in Baa Atoll, the President provided updates on key development projects for the island.

He announced that the tender for the harbour development project will be issued this month, with construction expected to commence within the year, while coastal protection works are scheduled to begin next year. He also assured the community that any necessary projects to resolve issues with the powerhouse and enhance its facilities are planned to begin this year.

Regarding education, President Dr Muizzu said the first phase of expanding the school premises is nearing completion, while the second phase, which includes the construction of a multi-purpose hall, is due to commence early next year.

In the health sector, he confirmed that work to establish a fully equipped health centre will begin this year.

The President further announced that construction of a full-sized football field will start within the next two to three months, alongside a Fitness and Recreation Centre, with both projects targeted for completion within the year.

President Dr Muizzu highlighted that eco-tourism initiatives are set to launch this year, and a contract has been awarded for the development of a resort in Goidhoo lagoon, with the agreement expected to be signed before the end of the month.

On housing and shelter, the President stated that the Government has granted the necessary permissions for land allotment in Goidhoo.

As part of his visit, President Dr Muizzu officially inaugurated Bank of Maldives ATM services in Goidhoo. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Goidhoo Police Station also took place today.
