President Sends Condolences to Zambian President Following the Passing of Former President Chiluba

President Mohamed Nasheed has send a message of condolence to President Rupiah Banda of Zambia following the passing of Former President of Zambia Fredrick Chiluba.

President Nasheed's message to President Banda reads as follows:

I was deeply grieved to learn of the passing of former President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Mr Frederick Chiluba.He will no doubt be remembered for his distinguished service to Zambia, in particular, his role in ushering in and establishing the values of democracy within Zambian society.

On this sad occasion of grief, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of the Republic of Zambia. Please also convey our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

President Chiluba passed away today at the age of 68. He was the first democratically elected president of Zambia.
