Honourary Consul of the Maldives in Dusseldorf, Germany, Mr Jurgen Weerth has paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed today.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office this afternoon, the President updated the Honourary Consul on the current political situation in the Maldives.
The President and the Honourary Consul also discussed the wave of democratic change sweeping across the Middle East, especially in Egypt.
On the subject, the President reiterated his call on established democracies in the Western world to extend their support to the Egypt’s democratic movement and assist them consolidate democracy in Egypt.
At the meeting, Honourary Consul Mr Weerth told the President that he would continue his efforts to bring foreign investments to the Maldives and find avenues for further cooperation in the area of climate change and clean energy.
Mr Jurgen Weerth also served as the Ambassador of Germany accredited to the Maldives.
