Governor of the state of Tripura, India, Dr. D.Y. Patil has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed today.

 
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, Dr. Waheed and Dr Patil discussed matters of interest including economy and the current political climate in the Maldives. Dr Waheed also highlighted areas where Maldives-Tripura relations could be further strengthened, focusing on the area of higher education.
 
At the meeting, Vice President Dr Waheed also thanked Indian High Commissioner D M Mulay, who also attended the meeting, and the Indian government for the swift assistance provided to the Maldives in bringing back the Maldivian students in Egypt following the escalating political situation in Egypt.
 
Tripura is mainly an agrarian state in Northeastern India, home to over three million people, with a rich culture of music and fine arts.
