President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that Islam is the cornerstone of Maldivian nationhood. He made the remarks in a message issued to commemorate 900 years since the Maldives embraced Islam.

In his message, President Dr Muizzu attributed the nation’s development and achievements to Islam, describing the religion as the main pillar of Maldivian nationhood.

He further said Islam has protected the nation’s peace and security in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Marking 900 years since the Maldives embraced Islam, the President offered praise and thanks to Almighty Allah and extended his good wishes to the Maldivian people. He also prayed for the continued development, peace and security of the nation.
