The Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Honourable Anwar Ibrahim, is scheduled to undertake a State Visit to the Maldives from 14–15 September 2026, at the invitation of His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The invitation was extended to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during President Dr Muizzu’s Official Visit to Malaysia in April 2025. This will be the Malaysian Prime Ministers’ maiden visit to the Maldives since assuming office in November 2022.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with President Dr Muizzu and hold official talks, focusing on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for partnership between the two countries. The two leaders will also witness the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding on select bilateral issues.
Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker of the People’s Majlis Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla and Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam will pay courtesy calls on the Prime Minister, during his stay.
The Maldives and Malaysia have maintained 58 years of strong people-to-people relations, high-level exchanges, and enduring development ties since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
