Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Maldives, His Excellency Tomaž Mencin, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.

The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed His Excellency Tomaž Mencin as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia.

Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on areas of mutual interest including tourism, climate change, environment and sustainable development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Slovenia were established on 4 March 1996.
