His Excellency Paul Kapur, the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs of the United States of America, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President's Office.
During the call, the President and the Assistant Secretary of State highlighted that this year marks 60 years of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United States, and discussed ways to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation built over the past six decades.
The Assistant Secretary of State noted the United States' interest in broadening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic development, increased investments, and maritime security. The President expressed his gratitude and affirmed that, in line with the Maldives First foreign policy, the country remains open to development initiatives that bring tangible benefits and contribute to diversifying the economy.
Both sides concluded the call by affirming their shared eagerness to continue working together for mutual benefit.
