President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the Thalassaemia and Other Haemoglobinopathies Centre at Orange Hiyaa in Hulhumalé this afternoon.
During the visit to the Centre, which operates in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services (MBS), the President and First Lady toured the patient wards, blood donor facilities, laboratory, and the Thalassaemia Patient Care Centre. They also received updates on the services provided by the facility.
Since assuming office, President Dr Muizzu's Administration has prioritised strengthening healthcare services, financial assistance, and infrastructure for individuals living with thalassaemia. Accordingly, the President has consistently emphasised the Government's responsibility to ensure comprehensive healthcare and social protection for those affected by the condition and their families.
Upon arrival, the President and First Lady were received by Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali and Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem. Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef also accompanied them during the visit.
