President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned the Organ Transplant Bill to the People's Majlis for reconsideration.

The Bill was passed during the nineteenth sitting of the first session of the People's Majlis for 2026, held on 14 May 2026, and was subsequently submitted to the President for ratification.

Following a review of the amendments introduced during its passage through the People's Majlis, and taking into account the practical challenges that may arise in implementing certain provisions of the Bill, the President has decided to return the legislation for further consideration.

This decision follows the President’s determination, upon careful consideration, that the Bill requires further reconsideration and amendments.

Accordingly, pursuant to Article 91(a) of the Constitution, the President returned the Bill to the People's Majlis this evening for reconsideration.
