President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the new branch network and expanded ATM services of the Bank of Maldives (BML).
At a ceremony held at Barceló Nasandhura tonight, the President launched BML's new branch network simultaneously across six islands. He also inaugurated 90 new ATMs installed throughout the country, comprising 70 US Dollar ATMs and 20 Maldivian Rufiyaa ATMs.
Expanding banking services across the Maldives is a key priority for President Dr Muizzu. As part of this commitment, he initiated a project to install ATM services on every inhabited island, bringing essential banking closer to all citizens.
This effort culminated in the completion of the ‘Dhivehinge Bank Mulhi Raajje Ah’ (Maldivian Bank for the entire nation) initiative in October 2025. The nine-month project ensured that every inhabited island in the Maldives is equipped with at least one Self-Service Banking Unit.
With these self-service banking facilities now decentralised across the country, residents can conveniently deposit, withdraw, and transfer funds, as well as make credit card and loan payments, directly from their home islands.
The ceremony was attended by Cabinet Ministers and senior BML officials and staff.
