His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed on an official visit to Bangladesh on Monday evening.
The visit comes at the invitation of His Excellency Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new Bangladeshi government, scheduled for 17 February 2026.
The visit will take place from 16 to 18 February 2026, during which the President will also meet with the newly elected Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Tarique Rahman.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh were established on 22 September 1978.
