President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have planted coconut palms in Dhuvaafaru, North Maalhosmadulu as part of the Five Million Tree Programme.

The coconut palms were planted as part of their ongoing tour of the island.

The Five Million Tree Programme is a pledge made by the President and seeks to plant five million trees across the nation.

This initiative reflects the Government's commitment to safeguarding the country's fragile ecological systems and mitigating the impact of climate change for the benefit of current and future generations. It follows the strategic action plan set out by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

To date, a total of 967,431 plants of various species have been planted nationwide under the programme.
