Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has emphasised that collaborative engagement is vital to achieving the nation’s developmental goals effectively.
The Vice President made the remarks during his address as Guest of Honour at the ‘Mahaasanadhu’ Award Ceremony, held this evening at the Raa Meedhoo School Hall. Established by the Meedhoo Island Council, the Mahaasanadhu Award serves as a formal recognition of individuals whose remarkable contributions and steadfast service have enriched the island’s progress and community life.
The Vice President highlighted the award’s role in fostering community pride and described it as a catalyst for inspiring residents to serve the island with dedication, strengthen unity, and further its development.
During the ceremony, the Vice President presented the highest honours of the Mahaasanadhu Award. He conferred the Thakhan Award on four recipients, the Kaleyfaanu Award on another four, and the Madhadhu Award on two individuals. The Vice President also presented the Nalanala Meedhoo Award.
In addition, ten individuals were honoured with the Noorani Plaque in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the field of education. The Aburuveri Khakima Plaque was awarded to eleven recipients for over two decades of dedicated national service. To celebrate academic excellence, nine individuals received the Nooraanee Award for exemplary performance in higher education. The Fannuverin Plaque was also presented to recognise exceptional skill and vocational accomplishment.
The Vice President extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all honourees, encouraging them to continue their invaluable contributions to the community and the nation.
Earlier this afternoon, Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef was accorded a warm welcome by the residents of Meedhoo upon his arrival on the island. As part of his visit, he met with members of the Meedhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and senior representatives from key local institutions.
