President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the Government’s plan to upgrade the Maaun’goodhoo Health Centre to a 24-hour facility. He made the statement while addressing the residents of the island during his ongoing visit to the inhabited islands of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.

During the meeting, the President reflected on the numerous development projects initiated as part of his visit. He noted that although some inauguration ceremonies were delayed due to rain, all projects will proceed as planned. Among these is the construction of an extension to the health centre, which, once completed, will operate as a 24-hour facility. The visit also saw the commencement of construction on new buildings for the Council Secretariat, Maaun’goodhoo School, the Centre for the Holy Quran, a fitness and recreation centre, and the Police Station.

The President also highlighted progress on key infrastructure projects. He assured that the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) would take over the stalled water and sewerage network projects on the island. He further confirmed that the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) would incorporate residents’ feedback and expedite the harbour development project. In addition, a beach development initiative will be undertaken alongside shore protection measures. Development of football grounds and a mosque is also planned for inclusion in next year’s budget.

At the ceremony, President Dr Muizzu expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the atoll, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to addressing citizens’ appeals through nation-building initiatives. He emphasised that the Government remains dedicated to a citizen-centric approach to governance, which is already yielding results and will continue in the future.
