President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced his intention to launch a comprehensive national project aimed at reviving the long-standing tradition of mutual respect among Maldivians. He made the announcement while addressing the community of Mahibadhoo during his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Ariatholhu.

The President highlighted that Maldivians have always been a people who uphold mutual respect, love, and kindness. Reiterating his belief that national progress must be accompanied by the cultivation of minds, relationships, and thought, he observed that the tradition of mutual respect has been steadily eroding in the current political climate.

He expressed his wish to reverse this trend and restore the values that have long defined Maldivian society. To this end, he announced plans to launch a nationwide Respect Project and called upon all relevant stakeholders, citizens, and political parties to take part. He emphasised that the success of the initiative would depend on the collective participation of the entire nation and expressed confidence that all Maldivians would support the endeavour.
