President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed that his Administration will not pursue any initiative that does not align with the aspirations and needs of the citizens.
He made the statement on his official X account, addressing concerns regarding planned land reclamation project for Dhonfan in South Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
The President reiterated his pledge to implement development projects across the islands in line with the wishes of local communities. In this regard, President Dr Muizzu noted that although an agreement had already been signed for the Dhonfan land reclamation project as per the citizen’s requests, the Government will no longer move forward with the project due to the change in public opinion.
He further confirmed that the relevant authorities would formally notify the Dhonfan Island Council of the decision today.
