President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to confer the Presidential Honour for Distinguished Service to the Nation of Maldives upon the esteemed people of Utheemu, in North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, in recognition of their enduring contribution to the preservation of national heritage.
This honour is bestowed in recognition of the steadfast commitment of the people of Utheemu in preserving and maintaining Utheemu Ganduvaru, a site of profound national importance that has remained under their devoted care for nearly five centuries.
The award will be formally presented at the official ceremony in Utheemu tomorrow morning, held in celebration of National Day. The event is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
During the National Day ceremony, the President will also confer the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition. This year, three individuals will receive the National Award of Honour, including one posthumous recipient. Furthermore, nine individuals and organisations will be presented with the National Award of Recognition for their exemplary contributions to the nation’s progress.
