President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially designated Valla, located in Dhaalu Atoll, as part of Kudahuvadhoo to facilitate economic activities that support the island’s development.
The change was implemented through Presidential Decree No. 21/2025, under the Decentralization Act (Act No. 07/2010), by exercising the powers vested in the President under Section 134(a) of the Act.
This designation fulfils a commitment made by the President during his meeting with Kudahuvadhoo residents on 5 March 2025, where he pledged to designate Dh. Valla for Kudahuvadhoo’s economic growth and development.
Following the enactment of this Decree, the appendix of Presidential Decree No. 2/2025 on the establishment of inhabited islands in the Maldives has been updated and published in the Government Gazette.
